In 2012, Nokia launched several hot smartphone from the high-end of the spectrum to the low-end; however, only a few can be considered as greats. As we bid adieu to 2012 and welcome 2013, we take a look at the best Nokia smartphones of the year gone.
In no particular order, here are the best Nokia smartphones of 2012.
1. Nokia 808 PureView
This device changed everything when it came to taking pictures with our smartphones. As the first-ever smartphone to come packed with a staggering 41-megapixel rear-facing camera and PureView technology, the Nokia 808 PureView was a desirable monster. However, with great desire comes great anguish, as many smartphone enthusiast were disappointed with Symbian being the operating system of choice.
If the Windows Phone OS was at the helm of the Nokia 808 PureView, it could have become a must-own device.
2. Nokia Lumia 510
When it comes to affordable Windows Phone 7.8 devices, there is only one place to look. The Lumia 510 took the crown as the most affordable Windows Phone device yet with its 5-megapixel auto-focus primary camera and 4-inch display. It also comes in five different colors, red, yellow, cyan, white, and black.
3. Nokia Lumia 920
Windows Phone 8 is finally here, and with that comes the Lumia 920. The Lumia 920 is a force to be reckoned with and is also considered as the most innovative smartphone since the iPhone.
Apart from Windows Phone 8, this beauty comes with an 8.7-megapixel rear-facing PureView camera with Optical Image Stabilization technology. Other features include a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display, which means the screen is the fastest and most sensitive yet. There's also NFC and Wireless Charging for those who are not into the old ways of plugging a cord into their smartphone.
4. Nokia Lumia 620
Yes, the Lumia 920 is an awesome device, but considering it's not easy on the wallet, how many peopla are able to afford it? This is where the Lumia 620 comes in. For those who are looking to get their hands on a cheap mid-range Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 620 is the perfect device.
For just a mere $250 (before taxes), folks looking for a new Lumia can get a device that despite being mid-ranged and less capable than most high-end Android smartphones, is able to beat the Samsung Galaxy S3 in SunSpider and BrowserMark 2 speed tests.
One phone that didn't make the list, is the Nokia Lumia 900. It is a good phone, however, it should have been upgradeable to Windows Phone 8, given the time it was released. Nokia promoted the Lumia 900 as a hero phone, only to announce that it would become inferior and almost useless in just mere months.
