CES 2013 and MWC 2013 are round the corner and with each passing day, new rumors related to flagship Android devices are surfacing by the dozen. Of those rumored devices, Samsung Galaxy S4 is probably the most eagerly awaited device of 2013.
The firmware from Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, with NFC support and model number GT-I8190N, reveals Samsung's plans for the upcoming Galaxy S4.
According to a SamMobile report, the first firmware of the Galaxy S3 Mini with NFC confirms Samsung GT-I9505, which is most likely the LTE variant of the Galaxy S4.
Samsung Galaxy S3 is the GT-I9300 and the number '4' is considered unlucky in Korea, so it makes sense that the Korean electronics giant will skip the GT-I9400 model number for its upcoming flagship model and label the international version of Galaxy S4 "GT-I9500."
According to an earlier report, the Galaxy S4 will come with 5-inch AMOLED display, featuring full HD 1920 X 1080 pixels resolution. The phone will be 9.1mm thick (0.39 inches), thicker than its predecessor - the Galaxy S3, which is just 8.6mm (0.34 inches) thick. It will also sport a built-in Stylus S-Pen like its sibling - the Galaxy Note 2. The Galaxy S4 will run on a quad-core processor that is clocked at 2GHz, and will feature a whopping 13-megapixel camera.
As far as the release date is concerned, Samsung releases its flagship models at a separate media event rather than public shows. So the appearance of Samsung Galaxy S4 at International CES 2013 is ruled out. However, it is rumored to hit the market in April, featuring a new version of the Android OS called Key Lime Pie.
The first firmware version of Galaxy S3 Mini also confirms another mysterious device labeled Samsung GT-Q1000. Previously, Samsung never released any Q-series devices and the GT-Q1000 seems to be the first device in the new line-up.
SamMobile believes that the new Q-series could be the line of flexible display products. Alternatively, it could be Samsung's first device running Tizen OS that the Korean firm is said to be working on for the past few months.
