Sony's much-touted Xperia Z (Yuga) smartphone has been the darling of the rumor mills for a while now. The 5-inch phablet from Sony is widely expected to make its debut at the CES 2013, and if the above picture us anything to go by, this is one rumor that is soon going to see the light of day.
The leaked image shows the Xperia Z sitting pretty at what appears to be Sony's booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The image was procured by Engadget via a tipster and the sneaky shot has let the cat out of the bag.
"We've been waiting for some real-world evidence of the device's (Xperia Z) existence, however, and a tipster provided us with just that: a shot of the Z as it appears in Sony's booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center," reported Engadget.
The specs of the Xperia Z still remain circumspect as the tipster did not disclose the same.
Earlier in January, press shots of the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL had leaked online via Sony's Web site, hinting that the smartphones were gearing up for a CES 2013 unveiling.
Additionally, ePrice, a Chinese Web site, reported that the Android-powered Xperia Z, which marks Sony's foray into the 5-inch smartphone space, would be released a week after the CES launch on Jan. 15.
According to rumors, the Xperia Z will have a 5-inch 1080p display with a pixel density of 443 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone will likely measure 139 x 71 x 7.9mm and will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro that is clocked at 1.5GHz. Rumors also indicate that the Xperia Z will likely pack in a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, and a microSD card slot.
Sony's press conference is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 7 at 5PM (Pacific). Mobile & Apps will be covering all the action love from CES 2013, so make sure you check the site for updates.
Ed. Note: Sony had announced the debut of Xperia Z and Xperia ZL at the press conference. Stay tuned for further details.
