The International CES has brought an array of new smartphones from different device makers, including ZTE, who revealed the 'world's thinnest' 5-inch 1080p smartphone - the ZTE Grand S.
Rumors of the ZTE Grand S were surfacing for the last few months and finally ZTE let the cat out of the bag and unveiled its latest Grand S, which packs in high-end features and specifications.
"The ZTE Grand S gives our customers the latest in technology, functionality and style. We understand that today's consumers call for advanced features and state-of-the-art multimedia options in their handsets, and the ZTE Grand S confidently addresses those demands. It is fitting that we can announce the world debut of the ZTE Grand S at CES 2013, the world's largest annual innovation event," said Kan Yulun, Corporate Vice President of ZTE Corporation and CTO of the ZTE Mobile Device Division.
The ZTE Grand S sports a 5-inch HD 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution multi-touch display with 441 ppi. A Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.7GHz powers the smartphone. The smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, both capable of recording 1080p video.
The Grand S has 16GB of on-board storage with the option to expand using a microSD card. The smartphone also includes 2GB of RAM. The Grand S will come pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The Grand S measures 5.59 x 2.72 x 0.27 inches, making it the thinnest 5-inch smartphone currently available. However, the thinness of the smartphone comes at the cost of the 1780 mAh battery, which is one of the smallest batteries seen in a device this size.
The smartphone will support 4G LTE connectivity and also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.
ZTE confirmed that the Grand S will be available in China from Q1 2013; however, no information regarding the global release and price of the smartphone has been revealed.
