It looks like the rumors of LG's Optimus G Pro's existence and specs were true. NTT DoCoMo has revealed the device in a Spring device lineup. LG has not made any official announcements regarding or even acknowledging the device, so LG might not be too happy with NTT DoCoMo.
LG is on a mission to increase the market share it has lost to Apple and Samsung and has been rolling out some very impressive smartphones in the process. LG's Optimus G has just sold over one million smartphones. Optimus G is the basis for Google's Nexus 4 smartphone and both collaborated on the hardware and design of Google's flagship smartphone.
LG made a resolution to sell 45 million smartphones in 2013 and one of the devices it will bring to market to help achieve that goal is the LG Optimus G Pro phablet. It will be a direct competitor to Samsung's Galaxy Note 2, HTC's Droid DNA, and other upcoming Android phablets. There's even a rumor that Apple might join the phablet party as well this year since it is missing out on a popular, growing market.
The LG Optimus G Pro has some very impressive specs. The smartphone features a 5-inch 1080p HD display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 4G LTE radio, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13 megapixel rear camera and 2.4 megapixel front-facing camera, 4G LTE readio, and a 3,000mAh battery.
LG was expected to officially unveil this device to the world at Mobile World Congress in February. Unfortunately, NTT DoCoMo did LG a favor it didn't ask for and revealed it to the world before LG did. One thing is certain, LG's Optimus G Pro, leaked or not, is a device that many people are going to want and a device many will own.
