Nokia released the Windows Phone 7.8 update to Lumia owners who were waiting to upgrade their handset from Windows Phone 7.5. However, many users have complained that the software update brings volume issues to the Lumia 800.
Nokia started pushing out the update to the older Lumia handsets on Thursday, Jan. 30 and the update will continue being rolled out through February. The Windows Phone 7.8 is expected to bridge the gap between Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.
"I updated my lumia 800 from nokia care here in kolkata and the sound quality is very frustrating!!! I can barely hear it while commuting! Till now i could hear the songs clearly at 21-22, but now even 30 isn't enough. Nokia please release a fix to this problem!" commented a user on Nokia Support Discussions.
The update brings new features on Windows Phone 8 such as the resizeable Live Tiles, the ability to use Bing wallpaper on the lock screen, and the 20 themes found on Windows Phone 8, to to Windows Phone 7.8. The idea of the update is to make Windows Phone 7.5 users feel that their handset is new and fresh.
However, the apparent drop in volume strength of the Lumia 800 is becoming frustrating for the smartphone owners. Many users have complained that volume level of 15 prior to the update is the same as 30 post update; furthermore, low music cannot be heard at all.
"I have the same problem after updating to WP7.8, the volume level is terribly low. I love my Lumia 800 and I was really looking forward to get this update but now I am very disappointed. Please, provide a fix for this problem as soon as possible, it is very frustrating," reported another user on Nokia Support Discussions.
The volume issue of the Windows Phone 7.8 seems to overshadow the impressive features that the update brings. We will have to wait and see if Nokia releases a fix to update the problem.
