BlackBerry had recently released a statement announcing the launch success of its latest BlackBerry Z10 smartphone. Now, Canadian carrier Rogers has re-confirmed that the newest smartphone offering from BlackBerry is selling like hot cakes from the network.
In 1999, Rogers was the first carrier to launch BlackBerry services in Canada. Even though BlackBerry announced that BlackBerry Z10 will launch on major carriers in Canada, Rogers is the first carrier to announce the success of the Z10, which launched in Canada on Feb. 5, and how the smartphone is getting an overwhelming response.
"Sold more BlackBerry smartphones on February 5th 2013 than any other day in Rogers history," said Rogers in an e-mail to MobileSyrup.
The e-mail also added "Rogers BlackBerry experts activated thousands of BlackBerry Z10 smartphones yesterday (Feb. 5), and provided customers with in depth training and support."
Rogers also indicated that some of its stores are temporarily sold out of the BlackBerry Z10, and additional inventory has been shipped to those retail locations across Canada.
BlackBerry Z10, which was launched in the same event that saw the debut of the latest BlackBerry 10 operating system, is the company's last hope of sustaining in the competitive smartphone space. BlackBerry has lost a major chunk of its market share to rivals; and in a bid to regain the loyalty of its lost customers, the Canadian company released the much awaited OS and a new line up of smartphones.
"In Canada, yesterday was the best day ever for the first day of a launch of a new BlackBerry smartphone. In fact, it was more than 50% better than any other launch day in our history in Canada," said Thorsten Heins, President & CEO of BlackBerry. "In the UK, we have seen close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone."
We will have to wait and see if the BlackBerry Z10 is able to entice more customers and turn the tide in BlackBerry's favor once again.
