Samsung promises to bring you a pure Android experience with its Galaxy Discover smartphone; however, do not get your hopes too high as the smartphone will come without the company's famous TouchWiz UI, rather it opts for the Android UI. The phone is currently heading only to the U.S. via Net10 and Straight Talk telecom operators.

Samsung Galaxy Discover measures 4.59" x 2.42" x .45" and weighs close to 124 grams. As far as other specifications go, the smartphone will have a 3.5-inch HVGA display and will run on stock Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It features a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with 3x digital optical zoom. Galaxy Discover packs an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor and offers 2.7GB of user accessible storage. The device comes with a microSD card slot that supports up to 32GB, a 1300mAh battery and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

Although the device will be launching with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, it remains to be seen as to how many would prefer the vanilla Android UI over a TouchWiz filled Jelly Bean experience.

The camera offers a slew of shot modes such as auto, sunset, night and party and allows geo-tagging, camcorder and online image uploading etc. Other basic smartphone functionalities like voicemail, voice recognition, speech-to-text and picture caller ID etc are available with Galaxy Discover.

Promising a mobile life experience without carrier or Samsung overlays, Samsung said, "Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich lets you customize your screen for faster access to the widgets you use most. Multitasking is no longer a chore with quicker access to notifications and recently used apps. Blazing web browsing and voice-controlled search lets you find what you are looking for, faster."

Samsung's Galaxy Discover is not the right phone for you if you are one of those feature-rich smartphone lovers; however, the device may well be priced at $100 or below without contract. An official word on the pricing or the release date of the device is yet to come.
