Last week, Vodafone UK had warned owners of the iPhone 4S to not update their handsets to iOS 6.1 as users reported experiencing connectivity and battery life issues. Now, Apple has released iOS 6.1.1 for iPhone 4S users to fix the bugs.
Users who had installed the iOS 6.1 software on their iPhone 4S reported being unable to receive or make calls, send or get texts or connect to the Internet. At the time Vodafone UK revealed that Apple was working on a solution.
"Some customers may occasionally experience difficulty in connecting to the network to make or receive calls or texts or to connect to the Internet. Apple is working on a solution to their software issue. These connection problems are intermittent," read the official Vodafone UK statement.
Now, a fix for the issue has been released via the iOS 6.1.1 and Apple notes that "This update fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S." The update is a hefty 968MB.
Since the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 were unaffected, Apple has released the update only for iPhone 4S. To apply the fix to your iPhone 4S, go to Settings > General > Software update or alternately, you can download the IPSW for manual installation. For additional help, visit Apple Support.
