HTC will hold events to announce its latest flagship smartphone, the HTC One, on Feb. 19 in New York City and London. In the past few weeks, major leaks revealed the specs, what appears to be a new version of HTC Sense and actual press shots of the smartphone.
The latest leaked information comes from HTCSource, saying that reliable sources report the HTC One will be coming to AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile in two capacities. The 32GB HTC One will retail for $199 with a new two-year contract. A 64GB HTC One will also be offered on all three carriers for $299.99 with a new two-year contract. The smartphone is expected to be available on all three carriers on March 22. Verizon may have passed on the HTC One, but we'll know for sure on Feb. 19.
Sources also reveal that the HTC One will have metal casing with dual front-facing stereo speakers on the front of the device. This is a smart move for HTC, as most smartphone makers put the speakers on the back or bottom of the smartphone: not the most ideal spot when you want to interact with your smartphone and listen to loud and clear audio.
The HTC One will follow many recent smartphone makers who have followed Apple's lead in releasing both black and white versions of the smartphone. HTC is even following Apple's iPhone 5's dual color scheme for its white model by offering it in a white and silver. T-Mobile's HTC One variant has allegedly been confirmed to ship with a 4G LTE radio that will run on T-Mobile's upcoming 4G LTE network.
HTC is said to hope that the HTC One takes off and helps it to regain some of the success it had a few years ago when it was the top Android smartphone maker. With specs like these and the previously rumored ones, HTC just may see that success again.
