It's been hardly a week since Google started pushing out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for various Nexus devices, Android 4.2.2 factory images are available now for the Nexus users.
These factory images will help you revert to stock if anything goes wrong as you experiment a curious function on your phone or as you run a malicious app. So make sure you download and keep them in a secure place. The factory images are available for Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (Wifi-only and 3G), Nexus 10 and GSM Galaxy Nexus ("yakju" and "takju" variants), androidcentral reported (via Google Developers).
The LG-made Google Nexus 4, Asus-made Nexus 7, Samsung-made Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus have been receiving OTA (over-the-air) Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update over the past one week. In case, you have not received the OTA notification yet, the Android 4.2.2 factory images will enable you to do so now. You can go to the Google's developer Web site and download the appropriate files.
As Android Pit rightly said, "a factory image is a clean copy of the Android 4.2.2 operating system, containing all the relevant files and perhaps, pre-installed programs, to run your device smooth as butter from scratch."
"This page contains binary image files that are provided for use in restoring your Nexus device's original factory firmware. These files are for use only on your personal Nexus devices and may not be disassembled, decompiled, reverse engineered, modified or redistributed by you or used in any way except as specifically set forth in the license terms that came with your device," the Google Developers page that contains the images instructs.
It was reported earlier that with the arrival of Android 4.2.2, Nexus 4 has lost the unofficial LET support. The device has been receiving unofficial support for Band 4 LTE from the beginning. Before the OTA update, the Nexus 4 used to immediately attach to Band 4 LTE if the appropriate 'LTE Only' selection was made in then phone info menu for preferred network type. However, after the update is made, the smartphone no longer attaches at all.
