Two Android-based smartphones, ahead of the upcoming Google I/O, making some noise on the web are the Motorola X and Nexus 5. While both the devices are highly anticipated at the event, there’s something new to the report that takes the subject to a completely different direction.
Per reports, it could turn out that both the highly talked about devices – Nexus 5 and Motorola X – are actually the same. What this means is that there is a high chance that both the devices are one single smartphone in truth, and could be revealed at the Google I/O.
It could be possible that when the Motorola device finally makes its appearance in the public, it could actually arrive without the Motorola branding. On the other, some other sources state that the Motorola X will actually arrive as the Motorola X and will not be keeping the Nexus brand name.
Moreover, the device is said to be running on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie when it comes out, while also keeping in mind that the display could be 5-inches, and it may have a resolution of 440 ppi.
Other rumors state that Google could also reveal the device at the I/O on May 15 and then the handset may be in the Google Play Store in June or July.
Autoo Mobile states: “According to eaglesrant.com ‘device referred to by the press as the Motorola X Phone may not carry Motorola’s branding after all,’ and ‘ might just be the next ‘pure’ Google phone, contrary to initial reports that it wouldn’t be a true Nexus device’.”
As far as the Motorola X specifications are concerned, the smartphone (at least the chassis of the device) could be made out of Kevlar, making it more durable for use. Apart from that, the device is also expected to arrive with a 5-inch edge-to-edge, no bezel, display and the potential of an eight-core processor powering the device. The next generation Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, as it seems, is also on the cards.
In accordance to this, another previous report appearing on the Droid Forums stated that due to the device's 5-inch edge-to-edge display, it will actually look and feel smaller than a Samsung Galaxy S3.
Moreover, while the device may not necessarily be a new Nexus device and "while this may initially bring unhappiness to some," it will be designed to be its own "new hyper-competitive brand."
The Nexus 5, in comparison, is also said to sport a 5-inch screen, as its name implies. The resolution appears to be Full HD and under the hood there will, allegedly, be the new NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor helped by 2GB of RAM. Storage options are said to be maintained at both 8 and 16GB, with the possibility of a 13-megapixel primary camera, and a 3-megapixel secondary camera.
