Sony has been in news for quite a while, and now the company is back in the contention with the arrival of yet another smartphone set to be coming soon.

Per reports, a brand new Sony-made smartphone known as Sony Xperia C670X has now been rumored to arrive this summer. This is a new piece of information after the previous reports about the Sony models C6802 and C680X.

The new information about the Sony Xperia C670X has arrived from a tipster who only recently provided the Xperia Blog with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean screenshot for the Xperia Z. As expected from a rumor, nothing can be said with certainty.

The new device, as of now, is said to be a 4.8-inch 1080p handset. Moreover, apart from opting for a smaller, higher-density screen like the HTC One’s, the C670X is expected to offer an increase in processing power over the previous five-inch 1080p Xperia Z.

The C670X is also expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (APQ8064T) chipset with 1.8GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 320 graphics. Other features include 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera. It has also been stated that the phone is due to launch in the middle of 2013 with Android 4.2.

“Along with all of this spec information, we were sent a render of the Sony C670X. We cannot tell from the picture if the C670X has a heavy glass influence like the Xperia Z or uses aluminum. Judging from the render, the ear speaker is similar in style to the Z/ZL. It looks like the top of the phone includes a front-facing camera , notification light, light sensor and proximity sensor,” the report states.

Provided that the expected release is still quite some time away, there is a high probability that the handset’s design may end up changing prior to the final launch. “This is perhaps why there are no app icons in the display area.”

There is also an update to the story from the Xperia Blog that reads: “The image sent over is the same as used in the set up guide for the Xperia Z, despite it clearly not being a picture of the Xperia Z. So either this Sony render is a generic placeholder image used when setting up a new 2013 Sony Xperia handset or it is indeed an image of an upcoming handset that Sony has inadvertently used in the Xperia Z.”
