The futuristic Google Glass continues to make waves in the tech community, and now Google finally listed the gadget's official specs and features.
We've heard a lot of things about the almighty Google Glass, and even an Apple board member recently said it is an amazing breakthrough. The folks of Google finally decided to lay down their cards and make it official, listing the specs and features of Google Glass.
According to Google's support pages, the high-tech eyewear comes with adjustable nosepads available in two sizes, as well as a durable frame specially designed so it "fits any face." Google Glass will also boast a "high-resolution display," reportedly matching the experience of looking at a 25-inch HD screen from eight feet away.
In terms of camera capabilities, Google Glass will pack a 5-megapixel shooter that is also capable of recording 720p video. Available storage, meanwhile, leaves 12GB "synced with Google cloud storage" available from the total of 16GB of flash memory that Google Glass packs on board.
When it comes to connectivity, the wearable gadget will include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and an unspecified version of Bluetooth, through which audio is possible via a Bone Conduction Transducer. Users will be able to connect their Google Glass to any phone that has Bluetooth capabilities. Moreover, Google also launched a MyGlass companion app for Android smartphones running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher. This app is available on Google Play and will enable GPS and SMS functionality.
Google doesn't offer any specific details on the gadget's battery life, but it does mention that the Google Glass battery will last for one full day of "typical" use, but some features such as Hangouts and video recording "are more battery intensive." Google Glass will come with its own Micro USB cable and charger, and Google recommends using the official accessories instead of other Micro USB chargers available on the market.
"While there are thousands of Micro USB chargers out there, Glass is designed and tested with the included charger in mind. Use it and preserve long and prosperous Glass use," advises the company.
Lastly, Google also released the Mirror API for developers and noted that the first Google Glass units will start shipping soon to Explorers.
