Apple released the updated software for its iPhones, iPads, iPods and Apple TV last month and with the release of iOS 6.1.3 and Apple TV 5.2.1 the company patched the earlier jailbreak.

The Cupertino-based tech giant did patch many issues related to the devices and earlier software, however, users of Apple devices were looking forward to get their jailbreaks back impatiently.

Owners of second generation Apple TV have got some good news as the famous jailbreak for Apple TV, Seas0nPass, has been updated for the latest Apple TV 5.2.1. Now, users of Apple TV (second generation) that are running on 5.2.1 firmware can jailbreak their set-top box, but the jailbreak is not an unthered one and they will have to reconnect the box to their PC or Mac everytime they reboot it.

However, the users of Apple TV will be quite happy as they can use the jailbroken Apple TV whenever they want.

Apple released the 5.2.1 firmware on March 19 with an improved security and added the Hulu Plus option in the top navigation bar.

"You'll notice we've added content categories across the top navigation bar to make it easy to for you to jump to your chosen section - whether it is TV, Kids, Latino, Search, or something else. Inside each category, you'll discover what's new in our content library so it's easy to discover new shows and keep up with the shows you already love. You can also jump into your favorite shows right away with the 'Shows You Watch' tray. We built this to make sure you never miss a new episode or lose your place in a series," a post on Hulu's official blog post mentioned.

The firmware also fixed the syncing problem users were facing with Netflix episodes. Users of the Apple TV confirmed the improvement after installing the updated firmware.

Here we will guide you in how to jailbreak your Apple TV (second generation) running on Apple TV 5.2.1.

Before we start the process, there are some points you should keep in mind.

1: This jailbreak process is only for the second generation Apple TV running on Apple TV 5.2.1 and third generation Apple TV is not supported by the latest version of Seas0nPass.

2: You will be needing your second generation Apple TV, power cable, silver remote and a micro USB cable no longer than 1 m. If the micro USB cable is longer than 1 m it will not support. You will need the silver aluminum remote that comes with Apple TV2, the older plastic remote will not support.

3: Download updated Seas0nPass version from these links:

Once you have all the listed things with you, you can go ahead with the jailbreak process following these steps:

1: Double click on the downloaded Seas0nPass folder and extract the file.

2: Once extracted, double click on the application file and run the application.

3: It might ask you to install iTunes, click OK and proceed.

4: Click on 'Create IPSW'

5: The Apple TV 5.2.1 will be downloaded and a new jailbroken IPSW will be created by Seas0nPass.

6: Once the new IPSW is created, Seas0nPass will ask you to put your Apple TV in DFU mode.

7: To put your Apple TV into DFU mode, follow these steps:

A: Connect the power cable to the Apple TV

B: Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV

C: Once it is connected, you will see the front light of the box glowing.

D: Now grab the remote and press the Play and the Menu buttons together for 7 seconds. You will see the front light blinking.

8: Once your finish these four steps, you will find your PC or Mac accepting the Apple TV into DFU mode. iTunes will start automatically and it will start doing everything by own.

9: After iTunes finishes the restoration process, you will get a 1602 error message. You don't have to worry about it and should just click OK.

10: Your jailbreak process is now complete, but you will need to put the set top box on Tetherboot.

11: Click on Seas0nPass file (if it gets closed after the jailbreak) and select 'Boot Tethered'.

12: Connect your Apple TV to the PC or Mac with micro USB cable.

13: Put the set top box in DFU mode once again by following Step 7.

15: Once put in DFU mode Seas0nPass and iTunes will take over and do the rest.

16: Disconnect your Apple TV from your Mac or PC by removing the micro USB cable. Don't remove the power cable.

17: Connect the HDMI cable to the Apple TV.

18: Select Language on the TV screen.

19: Click 'No Thank' on the policy page.

20: Now the home screen of your jailbroken Apple TV has appeared with XBMC Media Center icon.
