Windows Phone is growing; however, most device manufacturers are not growing with the platform, and why is that? It's all because of Nokia and its aggressiveness in the market. The company is the only one making inroads with the Windows Phone platform, and that doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.
According to AdDuplex data collected on May 3 from over 500 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2, the Lumia 920 is the most used Nokia smartphone, but that comes as no surprise, since the Finnish giant is the only OEM putting its full support behind the platform. From the AdDuplex statistics, the Lumia 920 accounts for 13.1 percent marketshare, just 1 percent ahead of the Lumia 710 in second place.
In third place, we have the Lumia 11.2 percent, this is a 2.8 percent lead ahead of fourth place Lumia 610. Interestingly, the Lumia 520, which only launched recently, debuted at eighth position with 4.4 percent; however, the Lumia 720, which also came out recently alongside the Lumia 520, is at 14th position, with 1.7 percent share.
In the U.S., the most used Windows Phone device is the Lumia 822, with 24.4 percent ahead of the Lumia 920 with its 18.9 percent.
When it comes to non-Lumia devices in the AdDuplex rankings, only three handsets made it. These devices include the HTC 8X with 4.8 percent, the HTC 8S with 4 percent, and the HTC Radar with 1.5 percent. If you noticed anything so far, there isn't a single Samsung device on the list, and that's because the company doesn't believe Windows Phone is good enough to compete with Android.
Sitting at the top of the pile is Nokia, with 80.2 percent of the Windows Phone market; HTC is second with 13.7 percent, far ahead of Samsung, which only has a meager 4.5 percent.
As you can see from the statistics, Nokia is dominating the Windows Phone platform; however, the company has nothing to show for it yet, as Windows Phone growth is moving slowly.
