Samsung Galaxy S4 on AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint has already got a software update and now it looks like U.S. Cellular is also getting ready to give its subscribers a maintenance update soon.
According to a report from Droid Life, the update is almost ready and the Galaxy S4 owners on U.S. Cellular will get it over the air (OTA) in two-three days.
Droid Life has gotten hold of a document belonging to the U.S. Cellular that gives following details about the software update:
* MS Exchange e-mail is opened and fonts are either too large or too small
* SIM Lock Feature - Inserting a non-USCC SIM will be blocked and "Invalid SIM" message will be displayed
* Camera - When you press home key in Sound & Shoot mode you will see a message but no sound would play
* Improved "Ghost Touch / Glove Touch" response
* Multi-View - Changed default setting to OFF
* Video content with Watch On/ Samsung app that was deleted was not becoming as FREE space to user unless device was rebooted.
* S Health app upgraded to version 1.5.4.5
* Camcorder & Voice Recording - Improve the audio quality by improving recording s/w parameters
Much to our surprise, the document says that the update is based on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update. However, Samsung released all the Galaxy S4 devices with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update and U.S. Cellular devices are also running the most advanced version of Android.
The Android version given in the document looks to have appeared as Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean by mistake and it should have been Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean actually.
The update will take the Galaxy S4 SCH-R970 to baseband version R970VXUAMDL.
Galaxy S4 devices on T-Mobile and AT&T have already received the software updates and the users are very happy with the performance of the new version.
According to AT&T users, the performance of the device has become faster because of the new update. Many users also say that the RAM usage by the phone has come down, from 1-1.5 GB to 600-700 MB.
