Nokia is reportedly planning a special treat for Superman fans, prepping a special Superman edition of its Lumia 925 Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone.

The Finnish company is no stranger to such limited-edition treats. Last year Nokia launched a Batman-themed Lumia 900 The Dark Knight Rises Edition and now it seems it's Superman's turn to make some waves rocking a high-end smartphone.

The new Nokia Lumia 925 made its debut on May 15 and is set to land in China on June 14 in this limited Superman edition, according to a new report from WP Dang. The launch will conveniently coincide with the release of the new Superman movie Man of Steel.

The Nokia Lumia 925 Superman Edition is reportedly part of a marketing strategy as the latest Superman movie debuts across the world in June. Consumers will also be able to buy a wireless charging back case with the Superman logo.

The Lumia 925 Superman Edition sports no additional features compared to the original version of the smartphone. The handset is simply expected to sport Superman branding at the back panel and the aforementioned branded wireless charging cover. The WP8 device will also feature the recently-launched Man of Steel Windows Phone 8 app, which was exclusively developed and preloaded for Nokia Lumia smartphones. It remains unclear at this point, however, whether the Superman edition of the smartphone will reach other markets outside China.

The Nokia Lumia 925 comes with the polycarbonate body that is so familiar for the Lumia range, but sports a metal strip as well around the body. In terms of specs, the handset sports a 4.5-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display with a 768 x 1280 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass 2 protection. Under the hood it packs a dual-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The Lumia 925 also boasts an 8.7-megapixel PureView rear-facing camera and a 1.2-megapixel wide-angle front shooter, runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system and packs a 2,000 mAh battery.

The Batman-themed Nokia Lumia 900 The Dark Knight Rises Edition launched around the same time last year, offering exclusive The Dark Knight Rises content such as themed wallpapers, ringtones and limited edition Batman or Bane character images, along with a Batman branding on the phone itself.

Nokia is yet to officially announce the release of the Lumia 925 Superman Edition and no pricing details are currently available.
