Amazon seems to be in a good mood these days with lots of sweet deals and its latest promotion offers the AT&T LG Optimus G for just one cent.
Amazon has a habit of slapping heavy discounts on smartphones that are a few months old and now it seems it's time for the AT&T LG Optimus G to strip some of that price tag, or most of it, for that matter.
The LG Optimus G is basically a Google Nexus 4 smartphone but without the Nexus exclusive goodies and with LG's own interface overlaying Android. The LG Optimus G is a very capable smartphone packing the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro processor, so the massive price drop is not about poor performance.
The AT&T LG Optimus G Pro is now available for just $0.01 on Amazon. The one-cent price stands for both new and existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade. The catch, as expected, is the standard two-year contract with the carrier. In other words, those who agree to commit to AT&T can get the LG Optimus G virtually for free.
Carriers often offer devices for "free," with free here meaning that two-year contract, but those devices are usually low-end phones that wouldn't cost much anyway. Higher-end smartphones usually come with a price to match, but not if Amazon has anything to say about it.
This version of the LG Optimus G sports a 4.7-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, and 8-megapixel rear-camera and the older Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) mobile operating system.
The LG Optimus G may not be the hottest smartphone out there, but it's definitely worth considering with such a crazy price tag. The full price of the smartphone goes all the way up to $589.99, so grabbing it for just one cent is a pretty whopping deal.
AT&T, meanwhile, did its own price-cutting and dropped the price tag of the LG Optimus G to $49.99, of course on a two-year contract. Needless to mention, however, Amazon's offer sounds far more exciting. Amazon lists the smartphone as "in stock" and with free two-day shipping.
