The Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon just got a new update that aims to fix the 4G LTE connectivity issues the previous update brought along.
Now that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is out, the previous Galaxy S3 is no longer the hottest handset around but it still has plenty to offer. It's still a powerful handset, it costs less than the new Galaxy flagship, and some consumers felt the new handset was not worth an upgrade.
Earlier this month, we reported that the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 update caused some serious issues with 4G LTE connectivity. That update didn't bring the handset to the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version, but it did add some new features and improvements. Shortly after, however, users started complaining about all sorts of issues arising after the Android 4.1.2 update.
Verizon later pulled that update, acknowledging that it is aware of the 4G LTE issue and that it was working with Samsung on a fix. Needless to mention, many users were not all that happy to learn they have to wait a while longer for things to run as they should. Now, a little more than a week after Verizon pulled the update, the carrier is pushing out a new over-the-air (OTA) update to users to fix those issues.
According to some screenshots from Droid-Life, the update comes with the build number JZ054K.I535VRBMF1. The previous update that wrecked havoc on the device had the built number JZ054K.I535VRBMD3.
A quick look at the comments in response to the Droid-Life report suggests the update seems to fix the previous connectivity issues. Samsung Galaxy S3 users on Verizon report faster speeds after the new update and claim things are now back to normal. The update doesn't bring any other enhancements except for this small bug fix, but those facing the aforementioned 4G LTE issues will surely sigh in relief.
The previous Verizon update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 left users with 1-2 bars of LTE if they were lucky and the connection was in no way stable. Others, meanwhile, lost their 4G LTE connection altogether, which meant being stuck on 3G. The new update should fix all that and allow the smartphone to finally run smoothly for all users. Did you experience any issues with the previous update? If so, did the new update fix things?
