Samsung will reportedly pack its own Exynos processor in the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 phablet instead of the rumored Snapdragon chipset.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to make its debut on Sept. 4, at the company's Unpacked event. As usual with such big launches, the rumor mill seems to be going out of its way to anticipate the specs and features of the upcoming device.
Recent rumors suggested that the next-generation Galaxy Note phablet will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 2.3GHz, but a new report now claims otherwise.
The new report comes from SamMobile, which is generally considered reliable and has a fairly good track record when it comes to leaking information about upcoming products.
SamMobile claims to have received "exclusive information" from one of its "trusted insiders" that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come in at least two models. The first variant reportedly has model number SM-N900, which is the international variant. This model will pack Samsung's own octa-core Exynos 5420 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and will not have LTE radios.
The second version, SM-N9005, will reportedly be the North American model, which may hit some European markets as well. This variant will likely boast the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with Adreno 330 graphics. This model will also support LTE.
SamMobile's source further noted that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come in three storage configurations - 16/32/64GB - but only a few markets will get to see the highest-capacity model. Most markets will get the 32GB variant. The phablet would also boast 3GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly.
In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to have the same dimensions as its predecessor, but sporting a larger display. Recent rumors have suggested that the new phablet will have a 5.7-inch display, which would mark a .2-inch bump over the Galaxy Note 2's 5.5-inch screen.
Samsung will be hosting its Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2013 event on Sept. 4 in Berlin and the new Galaxy Note 3 is widely expected to make its debut at the event. The company has already sent out invitations and the wait will be over soon.
