The LG G2 made its official debut last week and while there was no mention of wireless charging at the event, Verizon's version may offer this feature.
LG unveiled its latest flagship smartphone with all bells and whistles and the handset is packed full with all sorts of neat specs and features. In terms of wireless charging, however, things were left a bit unclear as the company didn't highlight this feature when it launched the LG G2. Generally if a high-end handset boasts such a desirable feature, companies seem to go out of their way to brag about it.
The sign-up page for the Verizon LG G2 now reveals that the smartphone will in fact have wireless charging capabilities, and this feature will be exclusive to Verizon. The LG G2 will be one of the first LG smartphones to hit all four major U.S. carriers, but apparently Big Red has a special deal in place.
There are also other differences between the Verizon version of the LG G2 and the international variant of the handset. As expected, Verizon's version features the carrier's logo plastered on the bezel above the screen and on the back place. Other differences include some slight modifications around the rim of the camera and on the volume buttons.
For those unfamiliar with the LG G2, the smartphone sports a 5-inch Full HD (1080p) IPS display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a powerful 3,000mAh battery.
Aside from its high-end specs, however, the LG G2 has something else to help it stand out from the crowd. With its latest flagship, LG introduced a new concept called the "Rear Key" concept, moving the volume and power buttons on the back of the handset for a better grip.
The LG G2 is expected to go on sale sometime in late September, but the company has not confirmed this timeframe. Note that Verizon's sign-up page is not the same as a pre-order page, as signing up will just guarantee that you will receive updates about availability, pricing and other details as the handset gets closer to launch.
