Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 gets Purple Mirage color option

Alexandra Burlacu

Sprint will soon offer its subscribers a new color option for the popular Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, making it available in a Purple Mirage avatar.

The purple Samsung Galaxy S4 will join Sprint's lineup starting this fall, selling alongside the existing white and black color options.

"Just in time for school, Galaxy S4 is available from Sprint in three colors: Black Mist, White Frost and the beautiful Purple Mirage, for $199.99 (excluding taxes) with a new line or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement," announced the carrier.

While this is likely good news for some Sprint customers, this is not the first time that a purple Galaxy S4 comes up. Not too long ago a purple version of the handset launched in Taiwan, alongside another model in a Pink Twilight color option. There was also some speculation back in July that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will launch in Purple Mirage and Autumn Brown models in the U.S.

The carrier did not offer a specific launch date for the Purple Mirage Samsung Galaxy S4 but the "just in time for school" mention suggests that the phone will be headed to Sprint soon.

As expected, this particular Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 sports nothing different except for the color. That means the same $199.99 price tag on a two-year contract, the same design and the same internals as the black or white models of the smartphone.

Sprint is not the first U.S. carrier to offer a new color for the Samsung Galaxy S4. AT&T, for instance, has the exclusive on the Aurora Red model of the smartphone, while Verizon has the aforementioned Autumn Brown avatar.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the most popular handsets currently available on the market and its high-end specs continue to attract increasingly more customers. Carriers do their best to lure more buyers to their networks and more choices means more potential customers. Smartphones are a major part of one's daily life and many users like to get a device that matches their personal style and preferences. While the standard color options are usually the most popular, more color choices are always welcome.
