Good news for Nexus fans: the new Google Nexus 7 tablet is now officially available in the UK directly from the Google Play store.
Google introduced its new ASUS-made Nexus 7 back on July 24 and the tablet went on sale in the U.S. just two days later, on July 26.
The UK, however, is just now getting the new-generation tablet in the Play Store. The new Nexus 7 comes with a £199 price tag for the 16GB model and £239 for the larger-capacity model with 32GB of internal storage.
The refreshed 7-inch Google tablet is not as cheap as the original Nexus 7 was with its £160 starting price, but it's still very affordable considering its specs and the fact that it is a Nexus device. The Nexus experience is very well-regarded because it implies getting the very latest version of Android as soon as Google releases it, without having to wait months for carriers to release updates.
The new model also sports several upgrades compared to the original Nexus 7. It is now slimmer and sports a Full HD display, as well as a rear camera that was missing in the previous generation. The new Nexus 7 also boasts the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.
Some users have experienced issues with the tablet's GPS or multitouch screen, but Google took care of the problem with a software update. The new Nexus 7 is considered to be one of the best Android tablets currently available on the market, offering good specs and features for a very reasonable price tag.
Nexus devices have proved to be extremely popular in the past, which led to some supply issues. Google currently claims to deliver the new Nexus 7 within one or two days, but if the tablet is in high demand the waiting time may increase.
When the LG-made Google Nexus 4 made its debut last year, demand was overwhelming and the smartphone flew off the shelves in no time. The Play Store continually listed the handset as out of stock and delivery estimates went up to more than six weeks.
