The purported champagne/gold iPhone 5S has leaked extensively recently, but it now seems the handset may come in a gray/silver version as well.

The purported iPhone 5S has stirred quite some waves recently, with various rumors, leaks and speculations centering mainly on the rumored Champagne hue of the upcoming handset.

According to a new leak, however, Apple may also offer the iPhone 5S in a gray/silver color option alongside the usual black, white and the rumored gold model.

The latest leaked images come from Sony Dickinson, who does not reveal the source. The iPhone starring in these photos looks identical to the champagne/gold versions leaked last week. Keep in mind that this is still unconfirmed, but a gray version does seem more likely than a gold model. The gray color option looks reminiscent of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air lines of Apple laptops.

The nenxt-generation iPhone 5S is expected to include a model with 128GB of internal storage capacity, a faster processor and a larger battery. The new smartphone is also expected to ship with the latest iOS 7 on board, which the company unveiled back in June at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC).

The latest iOS 7 comes with several changes over the previous version of the OS, including a flatter, more minimalistic look for the icons and menus. The new OS will also bring improved notifications, better multitasking, enhanced photo organization, new camera filters, AirDrop support and a number of other enhancements.

Apple is expected to hold an iPhone event on Sept. 10, where the iPhone 5S should make its debut alongside the much-rumored budget iPhone 5C. If these rumors prove to be true, Apple may introduce more colors for its next-generation iPhone, including champagne/ gold and gray/silver options. The iPhone 5C, meanwhile, is rumored to sport a plastic casing in order to reduce costs and be available in a range of different colors, much like the iPod Touch lineup.

Until Apple decides to make it official, however, it's all in the rumor state so take things with a grain of salt. The company should make an announcement soon enough.
