The LG G2 stirred lots of waves when it launched in South Korea and the smartphone is now ready to hit the U.S. and Germany in September.
LG's latest flagship smartphone has yet to make it anywhere else outside of South Korea, but it will make it in the U.S. and Germany this month, followed by a more extensive global rollout.
"The positive market feedback after the initial launch in Korea proved to us that the LG G2's consumer-oriented innovation does resonate with customers," Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said in the press release. "The LG G2 was developed as a global device for a global audience, beyond the scope of any smartphone we've introduced to date. I', confident consumers will see the difference."
Pre-order pages for the new LG G2 are already up on Clove in the UK and for the unlocked version of the smartphone in the U.S. Verizon also has a sign-up page for the handset, indicating that the LG G2 is on its way, but LG finally announced just how soon it will get here.
The U.S. and Germany are key markets for LG and the LG G2 will make its way there at some point in September, with no exact release date available at this point. The company also said that a global rollout will follow soon after.
For those unfamiliar with the handset, the LG G2 sports a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display with 1080p resolution at a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch (ppi) and it is the first smartphone to launch worldwide with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, as LG boasts in the press release.
The smartphone further packs 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter. The LG G2 ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board and a 3,000 mAh battery will keep things up and running.
The LG G2 also has a unique feature in its Rear Key concept, which has all buttons (volume keys, power button) on the back of the handset rather than on the sides.
The company will be showcasing its new LG G2 in Hall 11.2 at IFA 2013 starting on Sept. 6 in Berlin, Germany. The press release makes no mention of pricing details for when the smartphone hits the U.S. and Germany, but LG should make an announcement soon enough. We'll keep you updated.
