Verizon Motorola Droid Ultra sees $50 price cut to $149.99 on Amazon

Alexandra Burlacu

Verizon only started selling the new Motorola Droid Ultra a few weeks ago for $199.99, but Amazon is already offering the smartphone for $149.99.

In other words, Amazon is undercutting Verizon's offer by offering the new Motorola Droid Ultra for $50 less than the carrier's asking price. It may not be a huge discount, but it's a notable offer nonetheless.

The Verizon Motorola Droid Ultra is the thinnest 4G LTE-enabled smartphone currently available on the market, measuring just 7.18mm in thickness and weighing in at 4.94 oz.

The smartphone sports a 5-inch edge-to-edge Super AMOLED display that is also scratch-resistant. A seamless Kevlar fiber composite unibody case, meanwhile, wraps the Droid Ultra to offer protection, while also adding a touch of style.

The Motorola Droid Ultra for Verizon also packs various features that make it more attractive, including a Droid Command Center, the ability to be always-ready, even when it's asleep, an easy-to-manage photo gallery, and a low-light camera that allows for quality photos even in poorly-lit environments.

In terms of specs, the Motorola Droid Ultra packs the company's X8 mobile computing system, which employs a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a quad-core graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Other specs of the Verizon Droid Ultra include a 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video recording capabilities, as well as a 2-megapixel front-shooter for self shots and video calls. When it comes to connectivity options, the smartphone supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC. The handset's 2,130 mAh battery should last for up to 28 hours of talk time and up to 13 days of standby time, but it is non-removable, which may be a drawback for some.

While Verizon is offering the smartphone with a $199.99 price tag on-contract, Amazon is offering the same Verizon Motorola Droid Ultra for $50 less, i.e. $149.99 when signing a new two-year contract with the carrier. Free two-day shipping is also included with the order. The retailer makes no mention of whether this is a limited-time offer set to expire soon, but interested buyers might want to get it while it's available.
