The much-rumored Nokia Sirius Windows RT tablet will reportedly be called the Lumia 2520 and will launch in October alongside the Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8 (WP8) phablet.
Nokia has a very special relationship with Microsoft and so far it has been committed to launching a multitude of Windows Phone handsets to cater to various tastes and budgets.
Rumors of a Nokia phablet called Lumia 1520 and codenamed Bandit have been making rounds for a good while, and reports have also suggested that a Nokia tablet was on its way. The purported Nokia Sirius would launch as Nokia's first tablet and will reportedly run Microsoft's Windows RT operating system.
Prolific tipster @evleaks has shared two very interesting bits of information regarding the two upcoming Nokia devices. First of all, the leakster bolstered previous claims that Nokia would unveil its Lumia 1520 (Bandit, also referred to as Beastie for AT&T) alongside the Sirius tablet next month.
Just one day later, on Sept. 21, @evleaks comes with another piece of information, this time pertaining to the Nokia tablet.
"Nokia Sirius = Nokia 2520," the leakster announced both via a Facebook post and through a new tweet.
It's worth noting that Nokia itself has yet to confirm the Lumia 1520 phablet or the Sirius tablet, but the rate at which leaks are intensifying suggests an imminent announcement for the two devices. Moreover, the company has recently sent press invites for an Oct. 22 event, where it is expected to unveil its new phablet and tablet offerings.
Although Nokia has a wide range of devices on the market, consumers are still waiting for a high-end smartphone with a large display, 1080p resolution and top-notch processing power. The Lumia 1520 should embody that big step toward the phablet market, launching as a high-end, supersized smartphone running Windows Phone 8 with GDR3 and boasting top-end specifications.
The tablet market has also expanded considerably and is becoming increasingly competitive, but Nokia has been absent from this sector so far. The Sirius tablet, or Lumia 2520, would mark the company's first foray into this lucrative market and would allow Nokia to reach more consumers.
