Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition: Pricing and availability now official

Samsung has just announced that its Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition will go up for pre-order and launch commercially on Oct. 10, but it won't come cheap.

The much-touted S-Pen and accompanying software will add a considerable premium to the 2014 Edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, Samsung announced that it will price the 16GB Wi-Fi Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 at $549.99, while the 32GB version will go up to $599.99. The new slate was unveiled earlier this month and will go up for pre-order on Friday, Sept. 27, ahead of the actual launch on Oct. 10 in the U.S.

 "With enhanced S Pen, superior display, Multi-Window and sleek redesign, the Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition delivers an unrivaled tablet experience," boasts the press release, as published by Engadget.

"Last year's launch of the Galaxy Note 10.1 introduced the integration of the S Pen capabilities to the tablet category and created a new experience for consumers. We will continue to evolve the Galaxy Note experience with the new Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition. With premium software features and a sophisticated design, we're delivering an exceptional and even more engaging tablet experience," said Travis Merrill, vice president of tablet marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

"The Galaxy Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition builds on Samsung's innovative tablet foundation. With its advanced functionality and expanded features, the Galaxy Note 10.2 - 2014 Edition offers a best-in-class tablet experience that enables new conversations to empower users to excel in everyday tasks," added Nanda Ramachandran, vice president of emerging business at Samsung Telecommunications America.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition will be available directly from Samsung, as well as from Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart and several other retailers. Both the 16GB and the 32GB models are Wi-Fi-only. The tablet packs and Exynos 5420 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM and a slew of other high-end specs and features.

Carriers are yet to officially announce their plans for the tablet, but electronics retailers are already on board. The slate will be available in a choice of Jet Black and Classic White and will come with a few freebies, including three months of Hulu Plus, a one-year subscription to Boingo hotspots, 50GB of extra Dropbox storage, a 12-week subscription to the New York Times, as well as a full year of Bloomberg Businessweek.
