Moto X Moto Maker customization tool to reach Verizon on Nov. 11

Alexandra Burlacu

The Moto Maker customization tool for the Moto X is currently available only for AT&T customers, but it may hit Verizon next month as well.

The Moto X has been one of the most anticipated handsets of this year. The smartphone was surrounded by a lot of hype not only due to its specs and features or to the fact that it's the first device Motorola has launched since Google acquired the company. The Moto X created such hype due to its unprecedented and unparalleled customization options.

No other handset maker currently offers consumers the chance to have a say in how their smartphone would look. Motorola, meanwhile, designed the Moto X with high customization options in mind, allowing users to choose the colors of the device and a few other features to make their dream handset. Moto X owners can customize their handset via a neat program called Moto Maker.

As Moto Maker is currently exclusive to AT&T, users on other carriers are left with only two basic, standard options for the Moto X - black and white. According to famous tipster @evleaks, however, this may change as soon as next month, as Verizon customers will reportedly gain access to Moto Maker in November.

"Moto Maker for Moto X coming to Verizon on November 11th," tweeted @evleaks on Saturday, Oct. 5.

If this turns out to be true, it means that Verizon customers will be able to order their customized Moto X in a little over a month. Verizon has not confirmed the news and neither has Motorola, but @evleaks generally has a very good track record when it comes to outing yet-to-be-announced plans in the tech world.

On the other hand, while @evleaks is typically a credible source, keep in mind that nothing is official until the companies announce it. This means that for now, the information is still in the rumor state and subject to change.

With that cleared out, the news falls in line with previous rumors. When the Moto X launched, word was that Moto Maker would be an AT&T exclusive until November, after which other carriers would gain access to the customization program as well. Evleaks' tweet refers only to Verizon, but there's an equally good chance for Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular customers to be able to customize their Moto X just in time for the Black Friday frenzy.
