The Moto X on Verizon, Sprint and AT&T is now available for just $99.99 when upgrading to a new two-year contract or opening a new line of service.
The deal comes from Best Buy, who is looking to attract more buyers to the handset. The $99.99 price tag Best Buy slapped on the Moto X allows for considerable discount compared to what Verizon, Sprint and AT&T are asking for the smartphone.
The Moto X was one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones of 2013 for several reasons. First of all, it is the very first device to come out since Google acquired Motorola, and Google's fingerprint is all over the new handset. Second, the Moto X comes with some unique features that make it easy to use via voice commands, and it also touts unprecedented and unparalleled customization options. The Best Buy offer, however, is available for the standard white and black models of the handset.
For those unfamiliar with Motorola's latest flagship, the Moto X sports a 4.7-inch AMOLED HD display with 720p resolution. Under the hood, the handset packs a custom dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.7GHz, with Motorola's X8 computing system and Adreno 320 graphics.
The Moto X also packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity. Other specs include a 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording capabilities and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for self shots and video calls. In terms of connectivity, the Moto X supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. A 2,200 mAh battery should provide a decent battery life.
The new Motorola smartphone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but is expected to receive an update to the latest Android 4.3 soon, especially considering that Motorola now belongs to Google.
The Moto X is not the highest-end smartphone, but many were disappointed to see that it sports quite a hefty price tag for what it has to offer. In fact, the Moto X is among the most expensive smartphones in its class. Motorola promised to offer a lower-cost version dubbed the Moto DVX soon, but until then the Best Buy offer might come in handy.
The retailer is offering the Moto X for $99.99 on Sprint, AT&T or Verizon when signing a two-year contract with any of the three carriers.
