The new-generation iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C smartphones will finally become available on U.S. Cellular starting on Nov. 8.
U.S. Cellular is the fifth largest wireless carrier in the U.S., but so far it offered no exact details regarding its plans for the new iPhones. Its customers have been eagerly waiting for an announcement in this regards and now we finally have an official launch date.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C made their debut on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile at roughly the same time. The smartphones have been launching on smaller carriers ever since and U.S. Cellular customers were starting to lose their patience. Both new iPhones are now listed with a Nov. 8 launch date on U.S. Cellular.
For those unfamiliar with the devices, the new iPhone 5S sports the same 4-inch Retina display as its predecessor, with a resolution of 1,136 x 640 pixels and a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone comes with Apple's new 64-bit A7 processor under the hood and boasts the company's new fingerprint scanner called Touch ID. Other specs and features include an upgraded 8-megapixel camera and new colors - gold, silver, and gray.
The iPhone 5C, meanwhile, comes with the same Retina display as the iPhone 5S, but with a weaker processor and a plastic casing. The smartphone also sports an 8-megapixel camera and is available in a colorful range.
Considering that Virgin Mobile and other regional carriers have made the new iPhones available to their customers since early October, U.S. Cellular's Nov. 8 launch date for the new Apple smartphones marks a delay of over a month. On the other hand, it's better late than never, especially since U.S. Cellular is the only operator to reach certain regions.
Aside from the Nov. 8 launch date, the carrier offered no additional information regarding the new iPhones' debut on its network. It did not post any pricing or plan details so far, but it will likely offer similar pricing to the major U.S. carriers.
U.S. Cellular also followed big carriers' lead recently by offering shared data plans and ditching its unlimited data tier for new subscribers. You can learn more about the carrier's new shared data plans from its website.
With Nov. 8 just a little over two weeks away, U.S. Cellular may see a boost in customer interest due to the two new iPhones. You can find the iPhone 5S on U.S. Cellular at this link and the iPhone 5C here.
