The purported LG-made Google Nexus 5 will reportedly hit the Play Store late this month, on Oct. 31, according to a new report.
Google made no mention of the much-awaited launch of the Nexus 5 or Android 4.4 KitKat, which are expected to make their debut together. The LG Nexus 5 is one of the most hotly-anticipated smartphones of this year and as the expected launch date draws closer, leaks and rumors are intensifying in anticipation.
After all sorts of leaks, rumors and speculations floating around recently, a new report from MobileSyrup now claims that the Nexus 5 will go on sale on Oct. 31 from the Google Play Store and launch on various mobile carriers in Canada on Nov. 7-8. The Canadian carriers listed to launch the Google Nexus 5 are Rogers, Bell, Telus, Virgin and Koodo.
The next-generation Google Nexus smartphone is expected to boast high-end specs and features and launch as the first device to rock the new Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone will reportedly pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, a 4.95-inch full HD IPS display, an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), as well as a 1.3-megapixel front camera.
The Nexus 5 is further expected to feature a 2,300 mAh battery, 16GB and 32GB internal storage configurations, NFC, UMTS/GSM/CDMA/LTE compatibility, Bluetooth 4.0, and slimport compatibility. The handset will reportedly boast a slew of sensors as well, including accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, pressure, ambient light, and proximity sensor.
If Google sticks to the launch schedule it followed so far, the new Nexus 5 smartphone should make its debut any day now. The company has not announced nor confirmed anything so far, however, so it is advisable to take all rumors and reports with a grain of salt.
This is not the first time that Oct. 31 is speculated as the launch date for the Nexus 5, but until official confirmation it all remains in the rumor state. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more about the upcoming Nexus flagship smartphone.
