The upcoming Google Nexus smartphone, dubbed the Nexus 5, has leaked yet again, this time sporting a white avatar and a Nov. 1 launch date.
The LG-made Nexus 5 is one of the most hotly-anticipated devices of this year and is expected to debut any day now. In the meantime, a new leak has surfaced showing the device in white.
The latest leak comes from none other than trusted tipster @eveaks, who tweeted an image of a white Nexus 5, along with what seems to be a Nov. 1 release date. The newly-leaked photo seems to match up with earlier leaks and rumors.
Other than the fact that it's white, the Nexus 5 looks like it will feature the previously-rumored matte finish. The Nexus 4 was available in both black and white color options as well, but the white model appeared well after half a year since the smartphone's initial debut. If the latest leak proves to be accurate, Google may be taking a different approach this time and release the two color options simultaneously.
Google, however, should also address much bigger issues than the color of the handset. While the Nexus 4 was widely popular, the great demand overwhelmed both Google and LG and the smartphone was mostly out of stock. If it wants the Nexus 5 to be an even bigger hit, Google should make sure that history does not repeat itself and the smartphone does not run into supply issues like its predecessor.
When it comes to the Nov. 1 launch date, it does seem plausible but nothing is confirmed for now. Earlier rumors pointed toward an Oct. 31 release, but Google made no official announcement regarding its upcoming Nexus 5.
On the other hand, Google announced the Nexus 4 in late October last year, and is expected to follow a similar launch schedule with the new-generation Nexus smartphone as well. The company has also revealed a while back that the next version of its operating system will be Android 4.4 KitKat, but offered no release date. The new Nexus 5 is expected to come rocking the latest Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and it should happen very soon. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
