The Google Nexus 5 made its debut last week and is now available for pre-order on Sprint from Best Buy, with an enticing $149 starting price.
The newly-launched Nexus 5 smartphone from Google and LG was one of the most hotly-anticipated handsets of this year and demand is expected to be very strong. Last year's Nexus 4 was barely available, as demand would constantly drive it out of stock, and this year's iteration should be even more popular.
With just one week on the market, supplies for the Nexus 5 on the Google Play store in some regions were already running tight, and 16GB models even went briefly out of stock in the U.S. At the time, the 32GB variants were still available, but listed with shipping dates of up to 2 - 3 weeks.
The Google Play store, however, will not be the only source to offer the new-generation Nexus smartphone, and we now have more details regarding the Sprint Nexus 5 pre-orders from Best Buy.
The Sprint Nexus 5 is set to make its debut on Friday, Nov. 8, with a $149.99 starting price for the 16GB model on a two-year contract with the carrier. Sprint has already put the Nexus 5 up for pre-order, and now Best Buy is joining the game.
The retailer now has the Sprint Nexus 5 up for pre-order as well, listed with the same $149.99 price tag on a two-year contract for the 16GB model. The outright price for the Sprint Nexus 5, meanwhile, is $449.99, which is $100 more than the $349 price for the 16GB version from Google Play. On the other hand, some may be willing to shell out the extra cash to get a Nexus 5 straight away from the carrier when it hits Sprint's network on Nov. 8.
Best Buy lists the 16GB Nexus 5 model on Sprint as available for pre-order now in a choice of black or white. The retailer did not provide any specific shipping date, noting only that it will ship the smartphone when in stock. With Sprint's release just days away, Best Buy should get the Sprint Nexus 5 soon as well, possibly even on the same day.
