The AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 will make its debut on Nov. 15 and it's already available for pre-order through Microsoft's online store.
While AT&T has not offered many details regarding the Nokia Lumia 1520 launch on its network and it has yet to list the device on its website, Microsoft went ahead and started taking pre-orders for the new Windows Phone 8 phablet on its online store.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is the very first phablet from Nokia, and the first Windows Phone phablet as well. With Windows Phone Update 3 (GDR3), Microsoft finally added support for larger displays and more powerful internals, and the Lumia 1520 is the first device to illustrate the great improvements.
Previous rumors have suggested that the Nokia Lumia 1520 will come with a $299 price tag on-contract or $699 outright, but it now seems the rumor mill was wrong in this case. The Windows Phone 8 phablet from Nokia will actually cost $199 with a two-year contract or $549 at full retail.
According to a new WPCentral report, the AT&T version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 will be slightly different compared to the global variant. AT&T's model will reportedly lack the integrated wireless charging support and will come with a reduced internal storage capacity of 16GB. The super-sized smartphone will, however, keep the micro SD card slot that allows for up to 64GB of additional memory.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 sports a 6-inch ClearBlack IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution and Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The device packs Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, as well as 2GB of RAM. The Lumia 1520 also boasts a high-end 20-megapixel rear camera with Nokia's PureView technology.
In terms of connectivity, the Lumia 1520 supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The smartphone runs Windows Phone 8 GDR3 and has a large 3,400 battery.
Microsoft is currently taking pre-orders for the AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 on its online store. The smartphone is available in four color options: black, white, yellow, and red.
Those who prefer the unlocked version, meanwhile, can find it over at Negri Electronics, but will have to be willing to pay a little extra. The retailer is currently listing the unlocked Nokia Lumia 1520 with a $779.50 price tag.
