Sprint HTC One Max available for $149.99 on-contract – web-only deal

The Sprint HTC One Max is now available for purchase, sporting a $149.99 price tag on a two-year contract when ordered online, or $249.99 in stores.

The HTC One Max is the phone maker's latest Android phablet, bringing the popular design of the flagship HTC One to a larger device. The super-sized handset is definitely not for everyone, but phablet lovers may find it a worthy choice.

The gigantic smartphone sports a massive 5.9-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It builds on the HTC One design, but adds a fingerprint sensor on its back for additional security. Under the hood, the HTC One Max packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity. A microSD card slot allows for up to 64GB of additional memory.

Other specs of the HTC One Max include a 4-megapixel UltraPixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a powerful 3,300 mAh battery. The phablet is also 4G LTE-enabled and ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Sprint is only selling the 32GB version of the HTC One Max, offering the device for $249.99 on a two-year contract. However, the carrier also has a sweet web-only deal: customers who order the handset online will get a $100 price cut, bringing the HTC One Max' price down to $149.99 with a two-year agreement.

If at first some were skeptical as to whether consumers would really buy such huge smartphones, it has become clear that the phablet trend is quite popular and it's gaining increasingly more ground. Samsung recently launched its 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3, Nokia has joined the party with its 6-inch Lumia 1520, while HTC is competing with its HTC One Max.

Various rumors have claimed that the HTC One Max will also launch on AT&T and Verizon in the coming weeks, but the two carriers have yet to confirm their plans for the phablet. Sprint is the first carrier to start offering the device.

If you're interested in purchasing the HTC One Max, you can find the phablet on Sprint's website at this link. Keep in mind that the $149.99 price tag is only available when purchasing the handset online, otherwise the smartphone costs $249.99 on a two-year contract.
