The new Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet will make its debut in the UK on Dec. 4, launching as a John Lewis exclusive.
Nokia and John Lewis have just announced that the retailer will have exclusive rights to sell the Lumia 2520 in the UK, offering it both online and in stores starting on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
John Lewis will be selling the Windows RT-based Nokia Lumia 2520 at a £399.99 price point and it will also offer the tablet's add-on keyboard accessory for £150 in the following weeks.
The Lumia 2520 is the very first tablet offering from Nokia, and it joins Microsoft's Surface RT and Surface 2 in the Windows RT tablet lineup.
"We're excited to announce the launch of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet exclusive to John Lewis. We have seen a continuing demand for tablets, selling one every 15 seconds, and we think the addition of this tablet to our range will appeal to customers looking to do more than surf the web," Harry Boughton, junior buyer for tablets and telecoms, said in the John Lewis press release. "It comes with the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system and Microsoft Office pre-installed, making it ideal for customers who use Excel, Word, Powerpoint or Outlook. It also is 4G enabled so customers can use super fast mobile broadband to always stay connected."
It's worth pointing out, however, that although the press release mentions Windows 8, the Nokia Lumia 2520 actually runs the Windows 8.1 RT version, which is not the full-fledged version of Windows.
Other specs of the tablet include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with a clock speed of 2.2GHz, backed up by 2GB of RAM. The Nokia Lumia 2520 has a 10.1-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, it has 32GB of internal storage capacity with a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of additional memory. The tablet also features a 6.7-megapixel camera and packs a large 8,000 mAh battery.
If you're in the UK and are interested in the Nokia Lumia 2520, starting on Dec. 4 you will be able to purchase it exclusively from John Lewis.
