The Oppo N1 CyanogenMod smartphone will officially make its debut on Dec. 24, CyanogenMod and Oppo have proudly announced.
Following news that CyanogenMod has managed to get another $23 million in funding, the company has now announced that its first smartphone made by Oppo will launch on Christmas Eve.
The Oppo N1 CyanogenMod Edition has successfully passed Google's compatibility test suite. In other words, Google has certified the smartphone and the Oppo N1 CyanogenMod will officially make it to the Google Play store.
"The #OPPON1 is the world's first Google CTS-Certified @CyanogenMod phone! Available on 12/24," Oppo touted in a Twitter announcement on Thursday, Dec. 19.
"Steve has already 'spilled the beans', but I wanted to follow up with a better post than his in-passing comments (which some of you may have missed)," reads a more detailed post on the Google Groups forum.
"The Oppo N1 device running CyanogenMod 10.2 has officially passed Google's CTS and CDD certification programs, which marks a major milestone for everyone in this project, not just those working on the N1 project itself. This has been something a long time in the making, ever since CM 4.0.4."
The Oppo N1 is a high-end smartphone with top-of-the-line specs and features. The handset boasts a large 5.9-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM for a fast and smooth performance.
One unique feature the Oppo N1 has to boast is its high-end 13-megapixel camera, which can be rotated to serve both as a front- and a rear-facing shooter. In other words, while other smartphones use a more powerful camera on the back and a weaker shooter for self-shots and video calls, the Oppo N1 offers the same high quality with just one camera. To switch between the front- and rear-facing camera modes, just rotate the module 180 degrees.
While CyanogenMod and Oppo have announced the official launch date of their Oppo N1 CyanogenMod, the two companies are yet to offer pricing details for the smartphone. The standard model sells for $599, but it remains unclear how much the CyanogenMod edition will cost.
