The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon Wireless is finally getting the long-awaited update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, just in time to bring some Christmas cheer.
Samsung's Galaxy devices are generally very popular, especially higher-end ones such as the Galaxy Note 2. Although the company has launched the new Galaxy Note 3, last year's flagship phablet is still a popular device with plenty to offer.
While Galaxy devices have a solid fan base among consumers, carrier updates sometimes make it hard for users to fully enjoy their device. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has received a new Jelly Bean treat on AT&T and T-Mobile, but Verizon generally takes longer to offer the same updates.
After rolling out the latest version of Jelly Bean to its Galaxy S3, Verizon is now pushing out Android 4.3 to its Galaxy Note 2 as well. The update is a bit overdue, but Verizon has a rigorous testing process that often delays the rollout of a new OS version to its devices. Nonetheless, it's better late than never.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners on Verizon Wireless' network have already started to receive the new software version. The Android 4.3 update initially started to roll out via the Verizon upgrade assistant, but it is now available as an over the air (OTA) update.
With the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 finally gets support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, as well as the Multi Window and PenUp features. The update also brings quick access to downloaded languages on the Samsung keyboard.
Other features include the ability to search or filter contacts by name from the dialer screen, as well as easily accessing all of the alarm clock options without having to press the "more" button.
The update also brings along various improvements and fixes. To see the full changelog for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, check out Verizon's support pages at this link.
As always with OTA updates, the new software is rolling out gradually and may take some time to reach all devices. If you have already received the new Android 4.3 build on your Galaxy Note 2, let us know how it fares in the comment section below.
