After weeks of speculation, leaks and rumors, the new Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 is now finally official, and it does not disappoint.
The new 12.2-inch NotePRO comes as the largest tablet yet from Samsung, and is designed with productivity users in mind. The company clearly has focused on display size with its newest Note offering, and the tablet also comes with the popular S Pen stylus, just like any other member of the Galaxy Note family.
The Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 made its debut at CES 2014, as expected, alongside the company's new Galaxy TabPro.
"We created the Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO series to kick-off a year in which Samsung truly establishes its leadership in the tablet market," boasts JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. "This new line offers the best-in-class content consumption and productivity, combining a stunning viewing experience with Samsung's design legacy. The Samsung Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO truly demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with extraordinarily versatile product offerings, tailored to tablet users of every description."
The new Samsung Galaxy NorePRO sports a 12.2-inch WQXGA LCD panel that is "super clear" and boasts a resolution of 2500 x 1600, at a pixel density of 247 pixels per inch (ppi). The tablet will come in Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G LTE models, with the processor depending on the model. The Wi-Fi and 3G variants will ship with an octa-core Samsung Exynos processor, while the 4G LTE version will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU.
The 12.2-inch Galaxy Note Pro will also come in two available storage configurations, 32GB and 64GB, both with a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB. Other specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a large 9,600 mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, IR blaster, GPS, and 3G/4G LTE.
On the software side, the tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat and Samsung's Magazine UX on top, which allows for increased productivity. With the Magazine UX, users will be able to have three separate customizable panels on the home screen, thus handling the workspace/personal use/social media more easily. The Multi-Window feature, meanwhile, really maximizes the size of the 12.2-inch display, allowing for different tasks to be displayed simultaneously on the screen without any inconvenience. Samsung has also added enhanced S Pen functionality and is shipping the tablet with Remote PC software so that users can easily connect to their computer.
The company is yet to provide an exact launch date or pricing details for its new Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, but it did mention that the tablet will ship in the first quarter of 2014.
