Samsung unveiled a new tablet lineup last week at CES 2014, introducing its latest TabPRO and NotePRO offerings, and now we have some information about pricing.
The company said the new tablets would become available sometime this quarter, but did not offer an exact launch date or pricing details. Three European retailers have now listed pricing details for the tablets, but the price tags are insanely high.
"The Pro line features some of the best hardware on the market and a spec sheet to drool over, so we weren't expecting it to come cheap. However, it now appears that Samsung Pro tablets won't just end up expensive, they will end up obscenely overpriced, with some SKUs even going into four-digit territory," Fudzilla reports.
The cheapest model seems to be the 8.4-inch Samsung Galaxy TabPRO, which is listed with a €699 price tag for the Wi-Fi version and €799 for the LTE variant. The 10.1-inch model, which packs a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor for the Wi-Fi version, will retail for €799, while the Snapdragon 800-powered LTE model will go up to €899. The largest of the family, the Galaxy TabPRO 12.2, will sell for €899 Wi-Fi-only, or €999 for LTE. The 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePRO, meanwhile, is the most expensive of the bunch, sporting a price tag of €999 or €1,099, depending on configuration.
As Samsung has not yet made an official announcement regarding the prices of its new Galaxy TabPRO and NotePRO tablets, there is a chance that these prices are just estimates. The tablets are expected to be quite steep nonetheless, as they pack the latest and greatest in terms of specifications.
As a reminder, some of the high-end specs found in Samsung's new PRO line include WQXGA LCD displays with resolutions of 2560 x 1600 pixels, Exynos 5 Octa for Wi-Fi models and Snapdragon 800 for LTE versions, 2GB or 3GB of RAM (varies with model), 16GB/ 32GB of internal storage capacity, and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Connectivity-wise, the tablets will support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, and USB 3.0. The slates also come with dual cameras - an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a 2-megapixel webcam on the front.
