Nokia is reportedly working on a mini version of its Lumia 1520 phablet, and more details have now surfaced regarding the purported Lumia 1520V.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is the company's first phablet, boasting a massive 6-inch display and some neat specifications. Not all consumers, however, like super-sized smartphones, and Nokia reportedly wants to offer a mini version of the Lumia 1520 to cater to those who prefer more compact handsets.
The purported Nokia Lumia 1520V, i.e. the smaller version of the phablet, has recently leaked with some interesting specs. At that point, the device was said to have a smaller, 4.3-inch display with full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, as well as a slightly lower-end 14-megapixel camera instead of the phablet's 20-megapixel shooter.
Now, however, the same source of the previous report comes with new information, rectifying that the Lumia 1520V would in fact feature a WXGA display with a resolution of 1268 x 768 pixels, not a full HD 1080p display, and it would be a 4.45-inch screen. The Chinese publication doesn't mention any other changes to the previously-reported specifications.
The Nokia Lumia 1520V is expected to come with a 4.3- or 4.45-inch display, a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage capacity, with no microSD card slot for additional memory. The smartphone will reportedly ship with Windows Phone 8.1 and have a 2,370 mAh battery.
So far there's no official word regarding this purported Lumia 1520 Mini, aka the Nokia Lumia 1520V, but the device is expected to make its debut in April, launching alongside the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 at Microsoft's BUILD conference.
While nothing is for certain at this point, it would make sense for the company to launch a Mini version of its phablet. The whole "Mini" trend has really caught on, and the alleged Lumia 1520 could see plenty of success if it launches with these rumored specifications.
As always, however, it is highly advisable to take all such news with a hefty grain of salt until official confirmation. Nokia has yet to announce plans for a Lumia 1520V, or Mini, but we'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we hear more about this alleged device.
