A UK retailer is now taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 1320, with an actual launch date apparently pegged for late February.
Rumors started to emerge recently that the Nokia Lumia 1320 was finally ready to make its UK debut, and it now seems that it's all true. A UK mobile retailer has confirmed that the handset would launch at the end of February in the country and has already started taking pre-orders for the device.
Unlocked Mobiles is now allowing interested customers to pre-order the Nokia Lumia 1320 for £294.98. The price includes taxes and is for the unlocked device, i.e. without a contract.
For those unfamiliar with the Nokia Lumia 1320, the phablet comes with a massive 6-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (ppi), which also boasts Nokia's Super Sensitive Touch that allows users to operate the display even while wearing gloves. The smartphone runs the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system. Under the hood, the device packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM.
The Nokia Lumia 1320 comes with just 8GB of internal storage capacity, but it features a microSD card slot that allows for up to 64GB of additional memory. Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, LED flash, and 1080p video recording capabilities, as well as a 0.3-megapixel front-facing shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth 4.0. The design is slightly curved, which makes the device comfortable to hold and easy to operate despite its large display.
The super-sized smartphone also comes with Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 pre-loaded, and users will also benefit from 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage. A non-removable 3,400 mAh battery will provide up to 25 hours of talk-time on 2G, up to 98 hours of music play, and up to 672 hours of standby time.
On its pre-order page for the Nokia Lumia 1320, the retailer says that the device is available in orange, yellow, black, or white color options. At this time, however, only the black and white options seem available for pre-order. The retailer may add the other color options at a later time. Unlocked Mobiles expects to receive the smartphone on Feb. 24 and start delivering pre-orders the next day.
