The purported LG G2 Mini has starred in various rumors recently and it now seems that it will debut on Feb. 24 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014.
The company launched its LG G2 a while back as its 2013 flagship smartphone, boasting impressive specs and features and a unique design aiming to make it more comfortable for one-handed use despite its large display. The current trend, however, sees various companies launching high-end flagships with large displays, and then releasing Mini variants of the flagship to cater to those who want a smaller smartphone at a more affordable price point.
Rumors about an LG G2 Mini have been making rounds in the past few weeks, and the handset also dropped by the Bluetooth SIG recently, suggesting an imminent launch. LG has not made any official announcement regarding its plans to launch an LG G2 Mini so far, but a new teaser now points to a MWC launch.
LG has taken to its Facebook page to post a new teaser image, with all signs pointing toward an LG G2 Mini launch on Feb. 24 at the MWC 2014 trade show in Barcelona, Spain.
As you can see in the image above, LG is clearly teasing a smaller version of its flagship.
"Experience the Mini, Mobile World Congress 2014-02-24," reads the brief caption, while the photos are self-explanatory. The photo collage shows a mini version of several objects, including the LG G2.
There are not many details so far regarding what the LG G2 Mini could bring to the table, but the more compact smartphone could boast specifications similar to the flagship model. While Mini handsets so far have typically been watered-down versions of flagships, Sony has recently raised the bar with its Xperia Z1 Compact, which rocks the same high-end specs as the flagship but with a smaller display and lower resolution.
Previous rumors have suggested that the LG G2 Mini would sport a 4.7-inch display, but nothing is confirmed at this point. With the big unveiling set for Feb. 24, however, we'll soon know all about it straight from the source. We'll be covering the MWC and keep an eye out for any and all exciting news, so stay tuned for more information as soon as it becomes available.
