Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin recently sat down for an interview to discuss his role in "Saban's Power Rangers," an upcoming superhero film directed by Dean Israelite. In the film, the "Monster Hunt" star will play Zach Taylor, better known as the Black Power Ranger.

In a recent interview with Five Four, the 28-year-old actor spilled the beans on how the taping for "Saban's Power Rangers" went. He then straightforwardly discussed the pride he was with regards to playing a Chinese superhero.

"Well, I did a lot of my own stunts," Comic Book quoted Ludi as saying. "I wanted to develop something very different for the character because the character is the first Chinese superhero.

He proceeded to clarify, "I did not want him [character] to be a typical Kung-Fu, Wushu fighting pretty kicks. I wanted something powerful because it is a sexy character as well."

Following Lionsgate's casting announcement in late 2015, many individuals expressed opposition about Ludi's involvement in the film. It was reported that a few fans wish an African-American actor to play the exemplary Black Ranger character.

"From the very beginning, diversity was a very important part of the whole process," director Dean Israelite told Entertainment Weekly. "We switched all of the races around, but we made sure that the essence of each of those characters are who they were in the original show, and this really will be an origin story of those characters."

Based on the superhero team of the same name, "Saban's Power Rangers" follows a group of highschool kids - Jason Lee Scott (Dacre Montgomery), Trini Kwan (Becky G), Billy Cranston (RJ Cyler), Kimberly Hart (Naomi Scott) and Jack Taylor (Ludi) - who are infused with superpowers.

In order to save the world, the five characters must defeat their real-life issues, saddle their respective abilities, and band together as the Power Rangers. Together, the team must defeat an alien threat led by Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks).

Originally scheduled for July 22, 2016, Lionsgate later delayed the "Saban's Power Rangers" release date to March 24, 2017. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
