So the rumor is true! Microsoft revealed its very own Windows 8-badged tablet, called the 'Surface' at the Los Angeles event.

There were rumors about Microsoft planning to release its own tablet after the announcement of the last-minute press event. But the company didn't just unveil one tablet, but two tablets called Surface for Windows RT and Surface for Windows 8 Pro. Surface is going to be the name of this tablet line. The first one is only 9.33mm thick with a case that weighs 1.3 pounds only. There is a magnetic cover attached with the tablets that works more than just a protector. This cover includes a complete keyboard with a trackpad.

The Surface for Windows RT is packed with NVidia's ARM chip. Microsoft didn't confirm if it's Tegra 3 SoC but it won't be too surprising if it is. The RT model is featuring HD in its 10.6-inch display and is coated in Gorilla Glass 2. Other notable features of this tablet are HDMI output, USB 2.0 port, 32GB or 64GB built-in storage and 16:9 display.

The glass and the magnesium are both scratch-resistant and robust so users don't have to worry too much when handling this thing. The 3mm thick kickstand added with this tablet also works nicely and can be used for watching movies. The other tablet, Surface for Windows 8 Pro is packed with a stunning Ivy Bridge processor and is not as thick as the RT version. But people looking for a better device should wait for Surface for Windows Pro's specs.
