'Star Wars Rebels' Season 3 News: Trailer Features Obi-Wan Kenobi and His Rematch With Darth Maul
Bee BA trailer for "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 has just landed online and fans are already ecstatic over the events that could take place in the upcoming season. The biggest drop that fans received from the trailer is Obi-Wan Kenobi drawing out his Lightsaber.
Who is Obi-Wan Kenobi and Why are Fans Crazy Over His Return?
Obi-Wan Kenobi is considered as one of the pillars of the "Star Wars" universe. He was also the beloved mentor of both Anakin Skywalker and the latter's son, Luke Skywalker.
Ever since his exile, Obi-Wan has become a mysterious and elusive character in the "Star Wars" universe. Fans are always clamoring to see more of the old Jedi master to see if his skills have rusted over the years. It appears that fans will be given what they want in "Star Wars Rebels" season 3.
Games Radar has a reminder for fans: Darth Maul murdered Obi-Wan's mentor, Qui-Gon, 18 long years ago. It appears that he is ready to claim justice the second time around, especially now that he is sure Darth Maul survived their first match.
In the recently released "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 trailer, Obi-Wan is seen warming himself up in front of a fire when Darth Maul appears on the other side. The two enemies faced off in "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" and it ended well for Obi-Wan.
A Look Back at Obi-Wan and Maul's First Face Off
During their first bout, Obi-Wan appeared to have the lower hand. However, a Berani flip over the Sith Lord's head and Qui-Gon's lightsaber ended the duel. Darth Maul has since been believed to be dead, only to surprise fans with his comeback in "Star Wars Rebels" season 2.
CNET notes that after Obi-Wan tore Darth Maul's body in two, the latter has recovered and has even had a couple of robot legs. Although Darth Maul was only featured for a few seconds in the "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 trailer, it seems that he's been healthy, considering that Obi-Wan drew out his lightsaber, seemingly preparing for a rematch.
Darth Maul Returns With a Vengeance
Darth Maul was the first to draw his lightsaber and from the looks of it, he is back for some vengeance. It remains to be seen if how the rematch will end in "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 but fans can expect a lot of action from the fan-loved Jedi master and the villain.
"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 returns January 7 on Disney XD. Stay tuned for more updates. Watch the trailer below.
