During the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2017, many of the winners used their acceptance speeches to let people know how they feel regarding the policies that President Donald Trump recently made and to address the country's partition. Here are the most memorable speeches during the said event according to New York Times.

Julia Louise-Dreyfus

The actress won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. She opened her speech with a joke on whether or not the Russians hacked the voting that night as she proclaimed herself the winner by a landslide.

Then she immediately continued on with her speech in a more serious tone. Dreyfus stated that she was proud to be a member of the union and let everybody know that she is a daughter of an immigrant. She revealed that her father fled religious prosecution in France which was occupied by the Nazi at the time. She added that she is an American patriot and the immigrant ban is a blemish to the country.

David Harbour

The TV series from Netflix "Stranger Things" won the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in which one of its main cast, David Harbour, delivered a speech.

During his speech, he stated that it was difficult to celebrate with what is going on in the world. He believes that the world can be changed through great acting, and he encourages all people in the industry to let their artistry battle against fear and the narcissistic culture of the country.

Mahershala Ali

He has won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting role. Ali explained that he was grateful for having the opportunity to play Juan in the TV series as he learned what happens when people persecute other people just for being different.

He added that his mother is an ordained minister and he is a Muslim converted 17 years ago. They now set aside their differences and that they now love each other.
