VR technology is very popular nowadays, with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Sony's PlayStation VR, users can experience an out-of-this-world digital experience. These VR kits, however, are very expensive and it is not easy to acquire for those who have lesser budgets.

Fortunately, with the Samsung Gear VR headset, Virtual Reality can be experienced by using smartphones for a fraction of the price of a VR kit. The Samsung Gear VR costs less than $100, but several stores are currently offering big discounts where they can be purchased at less than $50.

By attaching the smartphone on the Samsung Gear VR, users can now use hundreds of apps thru Virtual Reality. Not all smartphone models are compatible with the Gear VR, but there are a few smartphones users can use with it. All Samsung models from Galaxy S6 and Note 5 onwards all support Gear VR, except for the now defunct Note 7.

Google also has a VR headset for a smartphone, but unlike the Samsung Gear VR which you can use with different smartphone models, the Google Daydream View VR headset can only be use with the Pixel phones for now. According to a CNET report, the Daydream View is going to support more Android phones like the Huawei Mate 9 in the future.

With the Oculus VR, Samsung built a library of apps and games for the VR experience. There are hundreds of programs to choose, from gaming to social apps. As of now, the Samsung Gear VR is undoubtedly a better option than the Google Daydream View. Of course, there are also a few advantages the Daydream has to offer like its wireless remote, but overall, Samsung Gear takes the cake.
